Alaska listed as America’s most dangerous country:
The 24/7 Wall Street made a report on the most dangerous states in the US. It also concluded that Anchorage is Alaska’s most dangerous state. Additionally, the Wall Street stated that there were 804 violent crimes per 100,000 Alaskan citizens, 52 murders and 409 adults per 100,000 residents were imprisoned. The main reason that Alaska is the most dangerous state is due to the lack of law enforcement. More than 75 Alaskan villages lack proper laws and rape and other violent crimes are very common in Alaska. In a report made by the NY Times, it stated that Native Alaskan women make up 61% of sexual assault victims where they only take up 15% of the population in Alaska. Many scientists blame it on alcohol and drug uses, due to now strict law on the age and restrictions on alcohol.
Southcentral windstorm:
Wind gusts at more than 100mph swept thousands in Anchorage Bowl and derived them of a power source.Municipal Light & Power said on Twitter that power had been restored to all of its roughly 2,500 affected customers by 4:45 a.m. Wednesday. Chugach Electric reported more than 15,000 customers without power at the peak of the outage Tuesday. Many sources has seen debris flying in the strong wind and pieces of trees and materials stuck in power lines. In the most recent report by KTVA, an Alaskan News Channel, more than 270 people are still left without power in Anchorage. This wind gust has temporarily disabled the transmission line across a highway, forcing it to shut down, and has been restored after a few days of fixing.
Brown Bag incident:
A downtown sandwich company that was turned into a bar has been closed due to the workers stating that they were harassed by a neighbor that feared the city would force them to limit their business hours. Earlier this month, police tased and arrested 4 people outside the Brown Bag due to a bar break in front of the bar. Many neighbors were not very happy with the Brown Bag because they felt that the customers where disrespectful and threw trash all over the place. "When people are urinating and pooping right in your front door, you know, and peeing on the front of your front door, how much of that are you supposed to accept and take?" Reno, a business owner right next to the Brown Paper Bag said. "Cleaning up puke and vomit and garbage and cigarette butts and everything every single day."
