Road Trip in the Golden State! (Newspaper Entry)
California Wildfire:
The California Wildfire was one of the most destructive wildfires in all history. It lasted for nearly all of 2017, and took a total of 21 civilian lives. This wildfire not only devastated many living in that area, it also a lot of records. This wildfire was considered as one of the most costliest one in US history, costing more than 10 billion dollars paid to combat this situation. Not only that, but it also did damage environmentally. It created the worst air pollution in the Bay Area, which the index of Napa nearly reached 486. This is one of the biggest wildfires in modern day history, and is mainly because of dry seasons in California and increasing temperatures in the world.
Safeguarding Young Athletes from Sexual Predators:
As a response to the USA Gymnastics team sex abuse scandal, the Senator, Feinstein decided to introduce a legislation making young athletes to report sex abuse reports to child welfare agencies or law enforcements within 24 hours to make it much simpler to report a sexual abuse on someone in the athletic department. This bill was proposed on March 2017, but was signed into law in February 2018.
Fighting Against Sex Trafficking:
In 2017, the Senate passed a bill that combats human trafficking in California. It is also proposed by Senator Feinstein to help trafficking survivors establish a new life after they are brought free from the trafficker. This bill basically makes the victims of human trafficking able to make federal resources and establish new solutions to the old bill called the Trafficking Victims Protection.
